Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte is reportedly set to leave the club at the conclusion of the season. The 24-year-old midfielder’s prospects at Old Trafford appear bleak, prompting the club to seek around £35 million for the Uruguayan international.
Time for a Transition?
With Casemiro’s anticipated departure from Manchester United this summer, the club is in need of a competent defensive midfielder. Selling Ugarte may facilitate the financial means to bolster the squad. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri from Sky, Juventus is interested in offering Ugarte an exit strategy. However, they will have to contend with interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Tavolieri mentioned on Sky: “Juventus are actively observing the situation and believe that qualifying for the UEFA Champions League will enhance their chances of securing the transfer. United values Ugarte at approximately £35 million, and formal negotiations could commence as early as May or June, particularly concerning the transfer’s structure. However, Juventus is not the only club; Newcastle, Aston Villa, and others are also keeping a close watch on the situation.”
Ugarte’s Next Chapter
The Uruguayan midfielder has struggled to find his footing in the Premier League, and a fresh start elsewhere could be beneficial for his career. A move to a prestigious club like Juventus, where the pace of the game is less demanding, might allow him the opportunity to regain his confidence and form.
Meanwhile, both Newcastle and Aston Villa are pursuing ambitious plans, hinting that they could offer Ugarte regular playing time. If they can provide guarantees in this regard, there’s potential for them to successfully entice the midfielder to join their ranks.
