Manchester United set to activate one-year contract extensions for Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire – Latest News on United’s Transfers

Rio Ferdinand says Amad Diallo is making strong case to "play every week" after another superb display vs. Brighton and Hove Albion - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly poised to trigger the one-year extension clauses contained in the respective contracts of Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire.

This is according to Rich Fay of Manchester World, who reveals that United are expected to exercise this option to ensure that the two players don’t walk away next summer as free agents.

Amad and Maguire – who are currently in the final year of their terms at Old Trafford – will see their deals run out next June.

Fay further states, “United still plan to hand Amad a new long-term contract extension after his recent rise to a regular first-team role, while Maguire’s will likely only have his deal extended in order to protect his market value.”

“United could look to sell Maguire next summer in order to recoup some of their investment in him, though his long-term future is also likely to hinge on who the manager is by the end of the campaign.”

Indeed, last month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano relayed that United are under no pressure regarding Amad’s situation even as his status and role within the team improve.

Romano explained that both parties are on the same page and when the time is right, a contract offer will be made to the Ivorian.

Meanwhile, a recent report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that United are prepared to sell Maguire in January, for as little as £10 million.

The England international is currently injured and is set to be sidelined for weeks while he recovers.

In his report, Fay also reveals that United could lose Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton for free at the end of the ongoing campaign.

Like Amad and Maguire, the four are now in the final year of their contracts but do not have an optional additional year in their respective deals.

Lindelof, Eriksen, Evans and Heaton will therefore be free to enter negotiations with overseas outfits from January unless United tie them down to fresh arrangements.
