Manchester United’s new co-owners INEOS have their own plans with regards to recruitment after seeing the club’s indifferent transfer dealings under manager Erik ten Hag.
Under the Dutchman, United’s go-to transfer policy has been signing players from the Eredivisie and apart from Lisandro Martinez, who has remained sidelined for the best part of the current campaign, none of the others have managed to put their best foot forward for the Red Devils.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning to add more young, British talent with experience of playing in the Premier League and this has seen the 20-time English league champions get linked with the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, and as many as three Crystal Palace stars.
United’s next Premier League opponents have quite the arsenal of young stars in their ranks with Marc Guehi, Michael Olise, and Eberechi Eze all attracting a lot of interest.
Eze interest
United’s interest in Olise is well known with the winger said to be the only INEOS approved target as of now but Eze is someone the club is also looking at.
The Peoples Person had relayed back in January that the Old Trafford side want to secure the 25-year-old’s services but Palace were reportedly asking for no less than €90 million.
The former QPR star has eight goals and five assists this season while he has registered 10 goals last term. His languid yet super-effective style of play has earned him plenty of admirers with his teammate Joel Ward calling him “mesmerising“.
Teamtalk have now revealed that United are continuing to monitor the England international and have been joined by Tottenham Hotspur in the race.
“TEAMtalk sources state that Palace’s chances of retaining the England international beyond this season are increasingly slim as their Premier League rivals prepare summer bids for him.
“Manchester United have been heavily linked with Eze recently but we understand that Tottenham are firmly in the race for his signature.”
Spurs vs United
Eze can play in midfield and on the wings and this versatility is a huge bonus for any potential suitor but Palace will be demanding a lot of money considering the player signed a new five year deal last year.
Palace know they cannot compete with the league’s big boys but the last contract means they are in a strong position for negotiations.
The report mentions that staying in London suits Eze and there is a still a chance that Spurs can offer Champions League football unlike United.
It will be interesting to see if United actually go after Eze. Their budget for the upcoming summer is not too high and they have to act smart and two Palace players might be beyond their reach.
