Manchester United shows strong interest in promising young striker Kaua Elias – Latest updates on Man United’s pursuits in the transfer market

Manchester United firmly interested in young striker Kaua Elias - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in Fluminense striker Kaua Elias.

Given Rasmus Hojlund’s relative lack of experience at the top level, United were expected to invest on an experienced striker this summer to ease pressure on the 21-year-old heading into the new season.

However, United’s recruitment team decided to place their trust in the 23-year-old Joshua Zirkzee. The ex-Bologna man has impressed with his technical prowess but he is not clinical enough to get on the scoresheet frequently.

Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than the Red Devils in the Premier League this season.

Despite facing scrutiny over their failure to add experience to their attack, it appears the Mancunian giants have now set their sights on another young number nine.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Elias has “drawn firm interest” from United and Fulham.

The 18-year-old has scored five goals in 21 league appearances for Fluminense. The Brazilian talent was also the top scorer at the 2023 Under-17 South American Championship.

Elias’s movement off the ball and natural goalscoring instincts have attracted plenty of suitors.

It is understood that Spanish side Real Sociedad made an unsuccessful €20m bid to secure the youngster’s services over the summer.

Meanwhile, Fulham have been monitoring his growth for almost a year and believe he has the “qualities to become a prolific scorer”. The report labels United as a “somewhat new suitor.”

However, any interested party faces a huge hurdle, with Fluminense thought to be demanding €30m plus add-ons to sanction any sale in 2025. As things stand, no club has indicated they are willing to meet the asking price.

Despite United’s reported interest in  Elias, it is claimed a young striker is not “necessarily top of their shopping list.” Apart from Zirkzee, Dan Ashworth and company won the race for Chido Obi-Martin this summer. The ex-Arsenal sensation is seen as one for the future.
