Manchester United Suffer Embarrassing 4-0 Defeat at Crystal Palace, Making Unwanted History

Manchester United Crystal Palace

Another humiliating defeat for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, as they suffered a 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Matchday 35 of the 2023-24 Premier League season. The result on Monday pushed United to a new low, as it marked their 13th league loss this season, a first in their Premier League history. Even if they win their remaining three games, United will end the season with only 63 points – their lowest ever in history.

Adding insult to injury, United have conceded 81 goals across all competitions, their worst performance since 1976.

Crystal Palace Outclass Hapless Manchester United

Despite coming into the game on a four-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League, 8th-placed Manchester United were no match for 14th-placed Crystal Palace. The Red Devils failed to put up a fight and suffered a humiliating defeat under Ten Hag.

In the 12th minute, Michael Olise scored for Palace, followed by a goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta before half-time. Further goals from Tyrick Mitchell and Olise completed the rout for Palace.

Casemiro’s Disastrous Performance

Casemiro, known for his success at Real Madrid, had a night to forget as he produced one of his worst performances in a United shirt on Monday. Playing as a center-back, the Brazilian was uncomfortable throughout the game and was at fault for both of Olise’s goals.

For the first goal, Casemiro’s tackle was easily evaded by Olise, exposing the defensive lapse. His mistake in the 65th minute was even more glaring, losing possession to Munoz and failing to recover.

During the game, Casemiro misplaced nine long balls, was dribbled past seven times, lost nine ground duels, and committed a foul. After this performance, his future at the club might be in question.
