Manchester United target €30 million Andre to replace Casemiro – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Andre.

The Red Devils have struggled for midfield control all season, as was obvious once again in the chaotic 2-2 encounter with Liverpool last Sunday.

It is clear that last year’s hero, Casemiro, is well past his best and does not have the legs any more to keep up with the high octane football of the English Premier League.

The Real Madrid legend will likely be sold in the summer as INEOS plan to free up space in the books by removing his massive wages and targeting younger, hungrier players instead.

As a result, the Red Devils have been linked to numerous midfielders such as João Neves, Joao Gomes and Youssouf Fofana.

However, FootballTransfers report that United are looking at a different name to bolster their defensive midfield department.

The outlet states that “Manchester United have made a return to Andre” and while “the Red Devils have not yet offered a proposal” for the player, we understand that the Brazilian is a “concrete summer target”.

The player was linked to United last year as a potential replacement for Casemiro and “now the Premier League giants have come back in for the Fluminense star and there is a feeling among sources that a move for the Brazil international stands more of a chance than them buying Gomes”.

“We are told that a proposal of just €30m could ultimately be enough to sign Andre, though the Serie A side will initially try to play hardball and ask for somewhere between €35m-€40m”.

The 22 year old has been capped five times by the Brazil national team and has played 13 times this season for his club side.

The Brazilian has been described as “the modern-day defensive midfielder – capable of doing everything and shying away from nothing when it comes to his responsibilities both on and off the ball”.

He is also said to be a blend of Joshua Kimmich and Matteo Kovacic in playing style.

At the quoted price and only being 22 years old, he would certainly fit into INEOS’ profile of a midfielder and could be an intriguing name to add beside the ever-progressing Kobbie Mainoo.
