Marc Cucurella: Barcelona Comeback Too Tempting to Turn Downn

Marc Cucurella Reflects on Potential Return to Barcelona

Marc Cucurella, the Chelsea left-back, has revealed that he would find it “difficult to refuse” a chance to return to his childhood club, FC Barcelona, which has renewed speculation regarding his future in London.

The 27-year-old, who has experienced a remarkable turnaround under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, made these remarks during his time with the Spanish national team.

Ahead of Spain’s friendly match against Egypt at the RCDE Stadium in Catalonia, Cucurella spoke about his strong emotional connection to his homeland.

Future at Chelsea and Affection for Barcelona

Since transferring to Chelsea for £62 million in 2022, Cucurella’s experience has had its highs and lows.

Despite starting off on the back foot, he has become a crucial player, featuring in every available league match.

Nonetheless, the allure of returning to Camp Nou remains significant for the La Masia alumnus.

While he enjoys life in London, where his family has adapted well, Cucurella admitted that a move back to Barcelona would be hard to decline.

In an interview with Marca, he stated: “It would be difficult to refuse. It’s not just about me; my family is also a consideration. If it happens, it happens, and we will see what decision is made. I often think about going back. I’m very content here, and my family is too. I will put it aside for a few years.”

Chelsea’s Strategies Regarding Cucurella

While Cucurella contemplates a future move “years from now,” Chelsea’s management appears to have more urgent plans.

Reports from Fichajes suggest that the London club is considering using Cucurella as a significant bargaining tool to acquire Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

Currently, Chelsea is actively pursuing the Argentine World Cup champion but is faced with a hefty £85 million asking price.

To make the transfer more financially feasible, the club could propose a deal involving Cucurella along with £35 million to entice Diego Simeone into parting with his key forward.
