Olympique de Marseille have seemingly won the race for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and are preparing for his medical.
The future of the 22 year old has been one of the most discussed United rumours of the summer.
There has been somewhat of a soap-opera battle for his affections as Juventus, Napoli, SS Lazio and Marseille were all linked to the forward at varying stages.
For a long time it looked like Lazio would be the club to finally land the United academy graduate but Marseille ultimately stumped up the most cash and had a bid accepted by the Red Devils.
There was some pushback however, as the Mayor of the southern French city condemned the move, but the Ligue 1 club continued to negotiate personal terms and reached a broad agreement yesterday.
Lazio came back with an improved offer in a last-ditch attempt but have now given up hope of signing the Englishman.
Ultra-reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has posted on X claiming that the move is so advanced that Marseille are making preparations for the Bradford born player’s medical ahead of completing the move.

Nonetheless, the move is not quite finalised though as Romano suggests there are still some formal matters to complete including a review of the contract.
Transfers have certainly fallen apart at this stage before but it looks like we are now into the final stretch of the sale of Greenwood.
The Red Devils will be eager to get the deal over the line as the €31.6 million that Marseille have offered will help immensely augment United’s own transfer kitty.
Ineos have a long shopping list where after bringing in striker Joshua Zirkzee, they reportedly want two centre backs, a midfielder and a left back.
The departure of the 22 year old will not only make sense from an economic perspective but will eventually remove a cloud that has hung over the club since details of his legal problems broke in the media in 2022.
