Augusta suffers heavy storm damage but Masters 'will be held' - Golf News

Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley has confirmed that the home of The Masters faced significant damage caused by Hurricane Helene last week, but reassured that the tournament will proceed as planned next April.

Ridley explained that the storm resulted in substantial damage at Augusta National, leading to power and water outages at the renowned course.

With power lines down and water supplies cut it has been hard to assess the damage at Augusta National

Despite the challenges, Ridley commended the club’s employees for their focused efforts on both course recovery and aiding the wider community.

The chairman announced a $5 million donation to assist in local recovery efforts following the storm’s impact in the southeastern United States.

Reflecting on the situation, Ridley stated, “Our employees, neighbours, friends and business owners need and deserve immediate and meaningful assistance to overcome the hardships being experienced at this moment throughout Augusta.”

Looking forward, Ridley assured that The Masters would commence as scheduled on April 10.

“The 2025 Masters will be held,” Ridley affirmed. “It will be on the dates it’s scheduled to be held.”
