Match Point Canada: S5, E40 – Carson Branstine and 2023 Davis Cup recap

She’s a Canadian-American tennis player and a two-time junior Grand Slam doubles champion!

Carson Branstine returns as a guest on Match Point Canada this week to discuss her newfound health and recent success, winning two consecutive ITF 15K events in Tunisia.

Branstine discussed her long and challenging road back from injuries to her knees and hips, and how she’s now feeling refreshed, healthy, and great on court once again.

“Now that I’ve fixed my hips, it’s amazing how my body has almost thanked me in a way,” said Branstine.

The 23-year-old did consider stopping after four surgeries, but after a solid recovery, found joy playing and competing again.

“My entire life has been shaped by tennis. Why don’t I give myself another chance and see how good I really am, and what I’m actually capable of?”

In the meantime, Italy became Davis Cup champions again for the first time in 47 years.

We look back at their incredible week in Malaga, led by a sensational performance from Jannik Sinner, who defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, and won the clinching match over Australia in the final.

We also look back at Canada’s tough loss to Finland, a big win for Milos Raonic, and what the future holds for him and look ahead to 2024.

We discuss all that and much more on the latest edition of MPC.
