Unfortunately for quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers, they came up short in their divisional-round playoff matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
The Packers had a chance to at least tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but Love wound up throwing a terrible interception that sealed the victory for the 49ers.
After the loss, Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur had the following to say about his young quarterback (via NFL on CBS on Twitter).
“I think he’s had an outstanding season. I know it didn’t end the way we wanted it to, [but I] couldn’t be more proud of just who he is, as a man, first and foremost, [and] as a leader of this team.”
“Couldn’t be more proud of just who he is … He grew as a leader.”

For a guy who, in his first full season as Green Bay’s starting quarterback, had to follow the career of All-Pro signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, Love delivered for his team in multiple ways.
The Packers quarterback finished Saturday’s loss to San Francisco with 194 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, so it clearly wasn’t his best performance.
But even with his struggles, Love still had Green Bay in position to potentially defeat this season’s No. 1 seed in the NFC inside their home stadium.
Considering the Packers got off to a miserable 2-5 start to begin the 2023 campaign, the team finishing their season with a three-point loss to the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs is a lot better than what most envisioned for Green Bay in 2023.
With Love leading the way, the Packers are one of the youngest teams in the NFL, and if they can add some more talent to their roster this offseason, they should have a chance to return to the playoffs in the 2024 season.
