Matt Wallace clinches victory at the European Masters – Golf Update

Matt Wallace wins European Masters - Golf News

Matt Wallace secured his first DP World Tour title in six years after defeating Alfredo Garcia-Heredia in a play-off at the Omega European Masters. The Londoner showcased his skill at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, being the only player to remain bogey-free in the first two rounds, giving him a four-shot lead going into the weekend.

Despite harsh winds on Saturday leading to only three players shooting under par rounds, Wallace managed to maintain his lead despite a three-over 73. During the final round, Wallace faced tough competition from his Spanish playing partner, eventually forcing a play-off after both players finished at 11 under.

In the play-off, both players found the fairway and landed on the green with their second shots. Garcia-Heredia missed his birdie putt while Wallace sank an eight-foot putt to claim victory, his fifth DP World Tour title but his first since the 2018 Made in Denmark.

Andrew Johnston finished in sole third at ten under, while Cedric Gugler pleased the home fans by sharing fourth place with Jason Scrivener at eight under after a strong comeback from an early bogey.
