The New England Patriots are entering a new era in their history, and they need as many veterans there to help with the transition as they possibly can.

Their defense should be significantly better than their offense, which is why they cannot afford to have Matthew Judon leave.

That’s why some fans sounded the alarms when Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal reported that Judon was definitely not going to play under his current contract (via Patriots on CLNS Media).

Bedard went on the record to say that while Judon was saying all the right things in public, he had heard that he would hold out unless he got a new deal.

With that in mind, the talented linebacker took to Twitter to clear the air on that report, stating that he never said anything like that, so people shouldn’t call him out or make him the villain.

This situation has been a bit of a headache for quite a while now, but both the Patriots and Judon have claimed to be open and willing to get a deal done.

He’s the anchor and leader of that defense, and his energy is contagious.

Jerod Mayo needs players like him in the trenches, and if the Patriots truly see him as an integral part of their project, they must make sure to have him there come Week 1.
