A failure to cooperate will cost Maxence Broville seven years of his competitive career.
French player Maxence Broville has been suspended seven years and fined $5,000 for failure to co-operate with an ITIA investigation, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today.
Broville, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 708 in 2023, has been accused of fixing matches and committing corruption in 2018 and 2018. He has denied match-fixing allegations, however he refused to run over his personal devices for inspection by ITIA investigators.
A hearing was held before independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Charles Hollander on January 5, 2024.
AHO Hollander found Broville liable for breaches of F.2.b and F.2.d of the TACP, which relate to the failure to co-operate with an ITIA investigation, including refusal to submit personal devices for examination when issued a written request to do so by ITIA investigators.
The 25-year-old Broville has been provisionally suspended since June 20, 2023, and time served under provisional suspension will be credited against his seven-year suspension. Consequently, Broville’s suspension will end on June 19, 2030.
Broville has served as a hitting partner for several stars, including Roger Federer.
