Mbappe and teammates overcome late scare in victory

Real Madrid Beat Deportivo Alaves

Real Madrid, the Spanish champions, managed to hold off a late scare in their La Liga Matchday 7 clash with Deportivo Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday, September 24. Despite conceding two quick goals towards the end of the game, Real Madrid emerged victorious with a 3-2 win. The result brought them within a point of La Liga leaders Barcelona, although they have played one more game.

Real Madrid Takes Control in the First Half

Real Madrid started the game strongly, with Vinicius Jr. setting up Lucas Vazquez for the first goal. Mbappe found the back of the net later in the half, only for it to be ruled offside. However, Mbappe scored again in the 40th minute to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Deportivo Alaves Mounts a Comeback in the Second Half

Real Madrid extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second half through Rodrygo. However, Alaves fought back, with Carlos Protesoni and Kike Garcia scoring late goals to make it a close contest. Real Madrid held on for the win, but Alaves provided a scare.

Following this narrow victory, Real Madrid will face Atletico Madrid in the El Derbi Madrileno at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium on September 30, 2024.
