Kylian Mbappé Honored with European Golden Boot for 2024-2025 Season
Kylian Mbappé has officially been awarded the European Golden Boot for the 2024-2025 season during a ceremony held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The talented forward expressed his desire to remain with Real Madrid for many years and continue collecting trophies.
In his inaugural season with Madrid, Mbappé netted 31 goals in La Liga, earning him the prestigious accolade from European Sports Media. This marks the first time he has received the Golden Boot award.
“Winning the Golden Boot is a tremendous honor for me,” Mbappé remarked during the presentation, which was attended by Real Madrid’s coach Xabi Alonso, the team’s players, and president Florentino Pérez. “This is a special moment as it is my first time receiving such an award. It holds significant meaning for me as a striker.”
The Golden Boot recognizes the leading scorer across Europe’s leagues, utilizing a point system that weighs goals from more competitive leagues more heavily.
Mbappé’s tally of 31 goals translated to 62 points, placing him ahead of Viktor Gyökeres, who achieved 58.5 points during his season with Sporting CP, and Liverpool’s Mo Salah, who finished with 58 points.
Last year’s winner, Harry Kane, and the previous two winners, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, had also made headlines with their achievements.
Praising his teammates, Mbappé highlighted the positive start to the 2025-2026 season under coach Alonso, with Real Madrid winning 12 out of 13 matches in all competitions. “We have an incredible group,” he stated. “I hope we can capture significant titles this year. Team success is what matters most. I aspire to be here for many years and to win many more awards.”
Real Madrid currently leads La Liga by five points after a recent victory against their rivals, Barcelona, in a classic showdown. They are set to face Valencia on Saturday.
Mbappé added, “It’s crucial that we continue performing well as a collective. Without the support of my teammates, achieving these individual awards would be impossible. I want to express my gratitude to the club, the medical team, and the staff for their ongoing support. I’ve started this season strongly, and I hope to win this trophy again next year!”

“I’m extremely proud that our team can rely on a player of your caliber,” president Pérez stated. “For years, securing your signature was a top priority for us. You embody the values of this club perfectly.”
He further highlighted Mbappé’s contributions: “Last season, you won both the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. With 31 league goals across 34 matches and a total of 44 goals in all competitions, your performance has been remarkable. Already this season, you have scored 16 goals, leading both the league and the Champions League after an exceptional start to your career. This Golden Boot is a rare achievement; we’ve only had three here at Madrid: Hugo Sánchez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo Nazario.”
