McIlroy Plans Brief Golfing Hiatus After US Open Setback – Golf News

McIlroy to take 'short break' from golf to process US Open collapse - Golf News

Rory McIlroy has announced that he will be taking a break from golf to reflect on his performance at the recent US Open. The 35-year-old missed crucial putts in the final holes, narrowly missing out on his first major win in a decade.

After finishing one shot behind winner Bryson DeChambeau, McIlroy left the course quickly, sparking criticism for not staying to congratulate the new champion in person.

In a statement on X, McIlroy congratulated DeChambeau and acknowledged the challenges he faced during the tournament. He expressed determination to bounce back and focus on his upcoming events, including the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open at Royal Troon.

McIlroy emphasized his resilience throughout his career and stated his confidence in winning his next major championship. He plans to use the upcoming weeks to regroup and prepare for the upcoming tournaments in Scotland.

The Genesis Scottish Open will take place at the Renaissance Club in East Lothian from July 11-14.
