Hard-hitting Serbian Hamad Medjedovic capped off a sensational 2023 season on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, defeating top seed Arthur Fils 3-4(6), 4-1, 4-2, 3-4(9), 4-1 to win the Next Gen ATP Finals.

Needing two hours and 11 to prevail, Medjedovic hit 19 aces, struck 32 winners and broke the serve on his opponent on three occasions.

Medjedovic, who entered the event ranked No. 110 in the world, Medjedovic recorded two semifinal appearances on Tour this year in Gstaad, Switzerland and Astana, Kazakhstan.

Currently ranked No. 36 in the world, Fils’s year was highlighted by a victory in Lyon, France and a finals appearance in Antwerp, Belgium.

The 19-year-old is certainly set for a tremendous 2024 season.

As the 2023 comes to an end, the Tour will be up and running again at the end of the month at the Tour stop in Brisbane, Australia.
