The New York Mets traded Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer last year.

This year, they lost Kodai Senga, their de facto ace, for the first two months of the season with a shoulder issue.

Their bullpen has also suffered the rigors of trades and injuries.

Yet despite all that, they currently rank eighth in baseball with a brilliant 3.40 organizational ERA.

Considering the circumstances, they have done a phenomenal job.

Now, it’s time to take it up a notch: to increase the staff’s ceiling, if you will.

Now, it’s Christian Scott’s time.

“Mets prospect RHP Christian Scott will be called up to make his big league debut, likely on Saturday in Tampa, per source. Scott was 99th on my top 100 prospects list entering the spring and has dealt at AAA since then: 25.1 IP, 12 H, 6 BB, 36 K,” prospect specialist Kiley McDaniel tweeted.

Scott is one of the best pitching prospects on the Mets.

The 24-year-old right-hander has been dominating in Triple-A, with a 3.20 ERA and a 6/36 BB/SO ratio in 25.1 innings.

As a reminder, Triple-A is one of the toughest environments for pitchers, yet Scott has been looking like a future ace there.

He has leveraged an impressive bat-missing fastball with ride (which parks in the mid-90s range when it comes to velocity) with excellent secondaries and pinpoint command to breeze through Triple-A.

MLB hitters will represent a true challenge, but Scott has the tools to succeed.

It’s still not clear if this will be a one-time chance or an extended opportunity.

It will depend on what the team decides to do with Adrian Houser, who has an 8.37 ERA.

For now, Scott is expected to take the ball this weekend and will get his first chance to show what he is made of.
