Yannick Bright Signs Contract Extension with Inter Miami CF

Yannick Bright, a midfielder for Inter Miami CF, has secured a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the club until the conclusion of the 2028 MLS season, with an option for an additional year in 2029.

Bright originally joined Inter Miami as a first-round selection in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and has since made 68 appearances across all competitions. He has established himself as an important figure in the midfield, frequently playing alongside Sergio Busquets under both former head coach Gerardo Martino and current manager Javier Mascherano. This extension follows a similar deal signed by Lionel Messi, who has also committed to the team for three more years through 2028.

During his college tenure at New Hampshire, the 24-year-old Bright scored two goals and provided eight assists. The Milan native previously played for Arconatese in Italy, making 20 appearances before joining New Hampshire.

This season, Bright has participated in 27 MLS matches, starting in 16 of them. With retirements looming for team veterans Jordi Alba and Busquets after the current season, Miami is preparing for significant roster changes during the upcoming winter transfer window, leaving them with two available designated player slots heading into the next season.

While Messi will retain one of the designated player spots, the club is expected to activate the option in the contract of midfielder Rodrigo De Paul to secure him with new DP status. One designated player slot remains open for co-owner Jorge Mas and Inter Miami to fill.

Additionally, the future of forward Luis Suárez is unclear, as his contract is set to expire at the end of 2025. Reports suggest that an offer has been made to him for the upcoming season. Mas commented on their contributions, stating, “He [Busquets] and Suárez have been a super plus to this team. The door is always open to them.” Decisions regarding the roster for 2026 will need to be made by fall.

In the meantime, Inter Miami is focusing on their upcoming matchup against Nashville SC in the second game of their Round One playoff series, where they currently hold a 1-0 lead.
