The Dallas Cowboys barely made any moves this offseason, and many feel it is because they need to give contract extensions to three of their mainstays.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the last year of his current contract, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and pass rusher Micah Parsons are also due for extensions soon.
Parsons recently said that he feels Lamb should be paid big bucks and that Lamb “is the best receiver in the league,” per Michael Gehlken.
Lamb has shown a gradual ascension in his production since entering the NFL in 2020, and last season, he had 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns on a league-high 135 receptions.
He has helped make Cowboys fans forget about the loss of star wideout Amari Cooper in the 2022 offseason, and he is perhaps in the discussion for being the best in the game at his position.
Lamb, like Prescott, has just one year remaining on his current deal.
A number of star wide receivers across the NFL have just gotten huge deals, including Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who just got a four-year extension worth $140 million.
That could inflate the value of Lamb’s deal, once he receives one.
Dallas has had one of football’s most talented teams over the last few years, but they have nothing to show for it, as they haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season.
There are those who feel Prescott could be on his way out if he doesn’t start to play well during the playoffs, but one has to assume the Cowboys will not let Lamb leave.
