Let’s go on a journey. Club soccer is mostly shutdown with Euro 2024 in full swing and Copa América kicking off on Friday. However, MLS continues to play on, which gives us a chance to see some up-and-coming USMNT hopefuls. Let’s get to the highlights!
Aidan Morris opened things up with this cross for an assist for the Columbus Crew in their matchup against Inter Miami.
Lucho Acosta (not yet US-eligible) had a big night for FC Cincinnati against the Philadelphia Union, starting off with this assist, then this penalty goal, and finishing it off the the 100th-minute game-winner:
Djordje Mihailovic picked up a hat trick for the Colorado Rapids against St. Louis City. You can see all three goals here:
Diego Luna picked up a pair of assists for Real Salt Lake against Sporting KC. Here’s the first:
And here’s Luna’s second assist – an excellent through ball to set up the goal.
Duncan McGuire got on the scoresheet for Orlando City against Charlotte FC. Here’s his goal:
Diego Luna wasn’t the only young RSL player to make an impression, with 19-year-old keeper Gavin Beavers becoming the second-youngest player to ever save a penalty kick:
FC Dallas winger Bernard Kamungo got this assist on one of the goals from Petar Musa’s hat trick against Minnesota United.
16-year-old Julian Hall scored his first MLS goal for the New York Red Bulls against CF Montréal with this header!
And last but not least, Jesús Ferreira joined in as FCD routed Minnesota, scoring this goal:
