Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is one of the bright, young head coaches in the NFL.
He has guided the Dolphins to back-to-back playoff berths for the first time since the turn of the century.
While in a recent appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show, McDaniel interestingly talked about how his childhood shaped him into who he is.
“Being a cool kid at school was a big deal…I was chasing a lot of popularity…If I was invited somewhere, I wanted to be the life of the party…I didn’t have a dad in my life,” McDaniel said.
The 41-year-old’s story is an intriguing one.
Going through a tough upbringing can sometimes turn people into great competitors and great leaders.
This situation is no different.
McDaniel started his coaching career as a coaching intern with the Denver Broncos way back in 2005 after graduating from Yale.
He would go on to bounce around the NFL, and he even had a coaching stint in the UFL
Two decades after graduating from Yale, he is now the leader of one of the league’s best teams.
After winning 11 games for the first time in a season since 2008, the Dolphins are looking to go deep into the playoffs in 2024.
Pro Bowl quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has an arsenal of great skill players around him, including speedster Tyreek Hill, 1,000-yard wide receiver Jayden Waddle, three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and Pro Bowl running back Raheem Mostert.
Look out for Mike McDaniel’s squad this season, especially if you are an opposing defensive coordinator.
