Mockery ensues over Jesse Lingard’s celebration as FC Seoul suffers late defeat in K-League – Latest updates on Manchester United’s news and transfer dealings

Jesse Lingard celebration mocked after FC Seoul fall to late defeat in K-League - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard made a surprise move to South Korean side FC Seoul at the start of 2024.

After a slow start, the 31-year-old is finding his feet in new surroundings but suffered an embarrassing moment this weekend.

Lingard netted an equaliser in the second half of Seoul’s home game against Daejeon on Saturday and celebrated with one of his trademark dances.

However, after missing a great chance to give his side a 3-2 lead, it was Daejeon who went on to net a late winner.

And, as reported by The Sun, Kim In-Gyun’s strike sparked wild celebrations from the away side and led to one player mimicking Lingard’s moves.

The dance, known as the dooley, was copied by the Daejeon star, leaving Lingard red faced and without a point from a game they were favourites to win.

The loss leaves Seoul fifth in the K-League and eight points adrift of leaders Ulsan.

Lingard was previously criticised by his manager for his early performances at the club but despite the weekend setback, is now beginning to find some form.

The midfielder’s well-taken goal on Saturday was his fourth for Seoul and his second in three games.

Each of Lingard’s previous strikes had resulted in wins for his new club but it wasn’t to be this time round, with the damaging defeat leaving Seoul with a mountain to climb if there are to catch the league leaders.

Lingard left United in the summer of 2022 having spent over 20 years at his boyhood club.

The Englishman played 232 times for United, scoring 35 times, including a stunning extra-time strike that secured the 2016 FA Cup under Louis van Gaal.

A disappointing spell at Nottingham Forest resulted in him making the move to Asia and he will hope to continue his strong form until the end of the campaign.
