Day 7 at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters boiled the tournament down to its final two, with Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti earning their spots in Sunday’s championship match.
Alcaraz produced a cleaner display to oust Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in an entertaining 7-6(2), 6-4 clash, overcoming a spray of forehands and five missed match points to reach his first Masters 1000 final since Indian Wells 2024.
Lorenzo Musetti, meanwhile, scripted another chapter in his week of comebacks, outlasting Alex de Minaur 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) in a rain-soaked semi-final.
The Italian’s flair and resilience turned the tide after a first-set drubbing, marking his first Masters 1000 final and capping a run that saw him dodge defeats against Bu, Lehecka, and Tsitsipas.
With Alcaraz chasing a sixth Masters 1000 title and Musetti eyeing his biggest career crown, the Monte-Carlo final should deliver, weather permitting.

Alcaraz Downs Davidovich Fokina
Carlos Alcaraz is back in a Masters 1000 final, his first in 13 months, after an impressive 7-6(2), 6-4 win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Saturday.
The Spaniard squandered three set points at 5-3 in a 65-minute opener, dropping serve with back-to-back forehand errors. However, he locked in for a clinical tiebreak and didn’t face a break point in the second set.
Alcaraz has shown a steady improvement this week. He could have lost early on, but he’s has gotten better each round. His variety on clay is impressive, especially his drop shot, which often seals the point.
Davidovich Fokina, known for his scrambling defense, also delivered a solid performance. He had a remarkable 13-minute service game at 1-2 in the second set. Yet, Alcaraz remained composed, not letting five missed match points unsettle him as he closed it out in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
For Davidovich Fokina, this run puts him back in the Top 30, and he should have a promising clay court season ahead.
It’s been a long time. I just had to be patient and believe that this moment was going to come again. Sometimes the people are not patient; they want me to make the final in every tournament. I’m really happy to give them the chance to watch one of my finals again. I think I played really good tennis from the beginning until the last point. I tried to take the chances he gave me in the match. He saved a lot of break points and match points, but I’m really happy to [have] thought about myself. The most important thing is that I’m feeling great physically. Alcaraz on his win.

Musetti Edges De Minaur
Lorenzo Musetti is into his first Masters 1000 final, battling back to take out 8th seed Alex de Minaur 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) in a rain-dampened Monte-Carlo semi-final.
After a rough first set where he was overwhelmed, Musetti found his rhythm and utilized his clay-court prowess. Despite failing to serve out the match at 5-4 in the third set, he remained calm and clinched the tiebreak 7-4 after 2 hours and 38 minutes.
De Minaur, who had strong performances against Medvedev and Dimitrov earlier in the tournament, struggled in the key moments of the final set, allowing Musetti to shine.
This win caps a week of close calls for the Italian, ranked No. 16. He narrowly escaped defeat against Bu Yunchaokete and survived tough matches against Lehecka and Tsitsipas.
I always struggle to start and find a rhythm, but today Alex was playing really solid, and the conditions were hard. It was slow today with the rain and it was not easy to break through the Alex wall. I started to be more patient and that was the key. The confidence is something that you have to experience to believe. It is something really remarkable, sharing these beautiful moments with my friends and family. It is my home and I feel at home. Musetti on his win.
