More bad news in store for Manchester United as Scott McTominay ruled out for three weeks – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United were far from convincing and let in yet another late equaliser but the overall feeling is that they were lucky to get a point from their game against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Merseysiders had 28 shots compared to United’s nine and had 62 percent possession. It almost seemed like one-way traffic at times especially in the first half and towards the end of the game.

Individual quality helped the 20-time English league champions with Erik ten Hag’s chaotic style once again proving to be a huge problem which the manager refuses to acknowledge.

Forget the race for a Champions League spot, the Old Trafford side will struggle to stay sixth based on current form and mounting injuries.

Injury woes

Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash, both Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans joined Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez on the sidelines while during the game, Marcus Rashford was subbed off due to a knock.

Such was the dire situation that 17-year-old academy wonderkid Harry Amass was called up to the matchday squad for the first time while 19-year-old centre-back Willy Kambwala completed the full 90 minutes.

In further bad news, Givemesport have now relayed that Scott McTominay could be out for two-three weeks after picking up an injury during the game against Chelsea.

“Scott McTominay was not used against Liverpool due to feeling discomfort in his knee after suffering a hyperextension against Chelsea. Early reports are that it’s not serious and he could be out for 2-3 weeks depending on the rehab.”

Ten Hag usually brings the Scotsman on during the closing stages for both his defensive workrate and his ability to ghost into the box to score important goals.

McTominay injury

The Scottish international is the joint top scorer in the league for the club and his goals have been worth 12 points, the most among any player in the English top-flight this season.

Without McTominay, the Dutch boss had to bring on Sofyan Amrabat on Sunday and the Moroccan hardly did anything of note and his loan is unlikely to be made permanent.

With Casemiro’s worrying form and the inability of Christian Eriksen to get a game, it is clear that the injury to the 27-year-old is a big blow ahead of the FA Cup semifinals.

As for McTominay, The Peoples Person had relayed that INEOS are big fans of the academy graduate and are likely to sanction a new deal with a wage increase to reward the player for his efforts.
