Rafael Nadal will not end his career at the 2024 Roland Garros as he confirmed that he intends to play at the Olympics.
The 37-year-old has a couple of things circled in this year’s calendar, and they’re obviously the Roland Garros and the Olympic Games. Many assumed that Nadal might call it quits at Roland Garros, but that’s not the case.
Don’t forget that if everything goes well, the 22-time Grand Slam champion suggested that he may continue beyond the 2024 season. He updated those claims since then by admitting that 2024 is likely the last year cause the body is not cooperating anymore, but that doesn’t mean that Roland Garros will be his final event.
In fact, he plans to play beyond that, as he told Movistar following his most recent loss to Jiri Lehecka at the 2024 Madrid Open.
“My dream would be to play in the Olympics once again. I have never said that my career would end in Paris.”
Having Nadal at the Olympics would be amazing, especially since they are going to be played on the Roland Garros courts. His fans would love the chance to see him compete at the Games once more.
He’s had some amazing moments at the Olympic Games, and it would be amazing to see him standing side by side with the future of tennis and Spanish tennis, Carlos Alcaraz.
Both have confirmed intentions of playing together in the doubles, but both have also been limited by their health in 2024. Nadal looks stronger and stronger with every match, but anything can happen at any moment.
He knows that his career could be ended by one injury, and that’s why also he tries to choose his schedule wisely, but the Olympics are circled in the calendar, without a doubt.
