Serie A powerhouse Napoli have reportedly rejected Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)’s initial offer for center-forward Victor Osimhen. Napoli are aware of PSG’s urgent need after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid and are looking to maximize their profits from the potential Osimhen transfer.
PSG, managed by Luis Enrique, have talent in every area of their team, including the attack. However, they lack a game-changer like Mbappe who can influence matches on his own. Out of all available options, PSG see Osimhen as the player closest to Mbappe’s impact. However, completing the deal has proven to be a challenging task.
Napoli Turns Down PSG’s Initial Offer for Victor Osimhen
PSG have been in negotiations with Napoli for some time, but have not made progress. According to reports from Santi Aouna (via Fichajes.net), PSG’s first offer for the Nigerian forward was rejected, with Napoli demanding a higher price. PSG offered €80 million ($86.99 million) for Osimhen, a bid that Napoli swiftly rejected.
As per Aouna, Napoli are well aware of the interest in Osimhen and are holding out for €110 million ($119.61 million) for his transfer.
If PSG increase their offer for Osimhen and Napoli agrees, they will then need to convince the 25-year-old to join their project. PSG must assure him that their future is more promising than other interested teams.
PSG is not the only top European club monitoring Osimhen. Premier League side Arsenal is also reportedly interested. Arsenal came close to winning the league in the past two seasons and adding Osimhen could be the final piece they need.
Osimhen joined Napoli from LOSC Lille in 2020 and has played 133 games for the club, scoring 76 goals and providing 18 assists.
The 2022-23 Serie A season was Osimhen’s best, as he scored a league-leading 26 goals to help Napoli win the title – their first since the 1989-90 season (3 titles in total).
