The United States Men’s Olympic Team has one final match to prepare for the 2024 Summer Olympics, and head coach Marko Mitrović has named his roster. Today, U.S. Soccer announced the 25-man roster that will gather in Kansas City ahead of a June 11th friendly against Japan at Children’s Mercy Park. That match is the final match for the team before the roster is named for the Olympics.
The preparations to this point have solely focused on Olympic-eligible U-23 players. For the first time, Mitrović has named an overage player to the roster. Walker Zimmerman, who has 42 caps on the USMNT and was a starter at the 2022 World Cup, will be in camp. He has battled injuries this season but is clearly being considered alongside others for the final Olympic roster. In total, 19 players on the roster have USMNT experience. Two players on the roster – Benjamin Cremaschi and Esmir Bajraktarevic – are also age-eligible for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The 25-man roster:
GOALKEEPERS (2): Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew), Gaga Slonina (Chelsea FC)
DEFENDERS (7): Nathan Harriel (Philadelphia Union), Jalen Neal (LA Galaxy), Bryan Reynolds (KVC Westerlo), John Tolkin (New York Red Bulls.), Jonathan Tomkinson (Norwich City), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United FC), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Cole Bassett (Colorado Rapids.), Gianluca Busio (Venezia), Benjamin Cremaschi (Inter Miami), Jack McGlynn (Philadelphia Union), Aidan Morris (Columbus Crew), Rokas Pukstas (Hajduk Split), Tanner Tessmann (Venezia)
FORWARDS (9): Paxten Aaronson (Eintracht Frankfurt), Esmir Bajraktarevic (New England Revolution), Taylor Booth (Utrecht), Cade Cowell (Guadalajara), Damion Downs (Köln), Johan Gomez (Eintracht Braunschweig), Duncan McGuire (Orlando City SC), Kevin Paredes (Wolfsburg), Griffin Yow (KVC Westerlo)
