NBA acknowledges overtime in Friday’s Grizzlies vs Lakers game

NBA acknowledges overtime in Friday’s Grizzlies vs Lakers game

An article by Jonah Dylan from Memphis Commercial Appeal revealed that the NBA has confirmed an unintentional 1 minute and 6 second extension during the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers game on Friday night.

There was a discrepancy in the game clock during the third quarter after a shot clock violation, resulting in an unnoticed extra playtime where the score remained tied at 2-2. Despite briefly taking the lead during the extra time, the Grizzlies eventually lost to the Lakers.

The NBA’s Last 2 Minute report also pointed out officiating errors including missed calls on LeBron James and Rui Hachimura.

While the outcome had little impact on the Grizzlies, it was a crucial win for the Lakers as it placed them in the No. 8 seed position in the NBA Play-In Tournament race.
