NBA and Sportsbooks in Talks to Ban Wagering on Two-Way Players

NBA, Sportsbooks Discuss Prohibiting Bets On Two-Way Players

Recently, the NBA has been in talks with sportsbook partners regarding potential changes to prevent situations similar to what happened with Jontay Parker.

One proposed change includes the possibility of sportsbooks prohibiting betting on players who are on Two-Way contracts.

The NBA currently has commercial agreements with sportsbooks such as BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel, giving the league some control over the types of wagers that are available.

Following allegations that Porter had shared confidential health information with a known gambler and manipulated his performance in a game for betting purposes, the NBA issued him a lifetime ban. Additionally, Porter was accused of making at least 13 bets on NBA games using someone else’s online betting account.
