NBA Insider Gives Significant Update on Draymond Green

NBA Insider Gives Significant Update on Draymond Green

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has provided an update on suspended Warriors forward Draymond Green, explaining that he “is expected to return to the Warriors’ facility in the coming days to start ramping up to resume play, sources told ESPN on Thursday.”

Green will miss his 11th straight game for Golden State as they take on defending champions Denver on Thursday.

“…His plan to rejoin the team to start working himself back into playing shape is the final step toward him restarting his season,” Wojnarowski said.

“NBA commissioner Adam Silver has the final say on the reinstatement timeline, but it’s believed that Green will have satisfied the league’s requirements to return once he is deemed properly ramped up to play, sources said.”

Green was suspended for the second time this season for hitting Suns center Jusuf Nurkic and one day later the league suspended him indefinitely.

Wojnarowski reported last week that Green is participating “in individual counseling sessions and periodic virtual meetings that include team, league and union officials designed to chart his progress toward reinstatement”.

This current suspension came after a five-game suspension for Green’s violent headlock on Rudy Gobert earlier in the season.

This week, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr told reporters that he has had minimal contact with Green these last few weeks, but the pair have texted a few times.

“But we’ve been giving him his space, and he’s been giving us ours,” Kerr said.

The Dubs have gone 6-5 during Green’s absence and have struggled to find a starting lineup that works.

The lineup has been rearranged twice since the 33-year-old has been away from the team.

Last week, Draymond was spotted at LeBron James’ 39th birthday party with many A-list celebrities including Jay-Z, Beyonce and Don Cheadle also making an appearance.
