NBA World Reacts to All-Star Starters Announcement


The starters for this year’s All-Star game have been announced and the NBA world is reacting to who made it and who didn’t.

The East starters will be Giannis Antetokounmpo (captain), Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton.

It will be Lillard’s first time starting as an All-Star, as he has started off the bench in his last seven appearances.

While the West starters will be LeBron James (captain), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic.

It will be King James’ 20th straight All-Star appearance, marking the most in NBA history.

As always, there have been snubs and the NBA world is voicing opinions.

According to The Athletic, “The fan vote accounted for 50 percent of the tally for choosing starters; the player vote and media vote accounted for 25 percent each, respectively. The seven reserves for each conference, to be announced Feb. 1, are selected by NBA head coaches.”

All-Star weekend will take place this year at at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis from Fri, 16 Feb– Sun, 18 Feb 2024.
