Nemanja Vidic’s son signs first professional contract with Serbian club, continuing family’s soccer legacy – Latest Updates on Manchester United Transfers

Nemanja Vidic son signs first professional contract with Serbian club - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic’s son has signed his first professional contract as he attempts to follow in his father’s footsteps and make his name in the game.

17-year-old Luka Vidic is the eldest son of the former United defender and has put pen to paper with a Serbian side this week.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Luka has signed for Zeljeznicar Pancevo and will hope to feature in the Serbian SuperLiga this season.

The youngster plays primarily as a defensive midfielder with Zeljeznicar signing him from second-tier side Vozdovac.

Luka didn’t feature for the first team with Vozdovac but impressed enough playing in the under-19’s for Zeljeznicar to take a punt on the young prodigy.

Vidic played 31 youth level matches for his former club, scoring one goal from his deep-lying position.

His new side have started well in the Serbian top flight this season, sitting just three points from the top of the table after seven league games.

Luka will be desperate to emulate his father’s achievements in the game, with Nemanja going down as one of the greatest defenders in Premier League history.

Vidic senior won 15 trophies during his time in England, including five Premier League titles and a Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson at United.

His partnership with Rio Ferdinand formed the base for an outstanding period of dominance between 2006-2013 before he eventually left for Inter Milan in 2014.

Vidic retired two years later at the age of 34 and will now support his son as he begins his footballing journey.

No doubt Erik ten Hag and his scouts will be keeping a close eye on Luka’s development and it may be the case that we see another Vidic plying his trade in the Theatre of Dreams in the future.
