Some interesting news hit the NFL wire recently with the announcement that a Netflix documentary called “The Murder of Air McNair” will premiere on August 20th, according to Front Office Sports.

The documentary will focus on the death of former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair, as well as the Titans’ Super Bowl run in 2000.

An underrated quarterback and figure in the NFL during his 13-year career, McNair’s death was utterly tragic and shocking.

On the field, McNair was the central piece of a Titans team fighting to contend for a championship in the AFC.

A No. 3 overall draft pick out of Alcorn State in the 1995 NFL Draft, “Air McNair” was dangerous with the ball in his hands.

He helped guide the Titans to the playoffs four times with the team winning 10+ games in the regular season four times also with him on the roster.

Tennessee was on the doorstep of winning its first-ever Super Bowl before being denied at the goal line on the final play of the game against the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV.

McNair, a three-time Pro-Bowler, spent a total of 11 years with the Titans/Oilers before heading to play for the Baltimore Ravens in 2006 and 2007.

The College Football Hall-of-Famer announced his retirement from the NFL in April of 2008.

Tragically, he was found dead in his condominium in downtown Nashville on July 4th, 2009 at just 36 years of age.

Questions have come about his death over the years and can possibly be answered when this documentary airs later this summer.
