New TaylorMade P Series Utility Irons Released – Golf Industry Announcement

TaylorMade introduces new P Series utility irons - Golf News

TaylorMade has introduced two new utility irons to its P·Series iron lineup with the P·UDI and P·DHY.

The P·UDI is targeted towards better players who typically use P·Series irons, while the P·DHY is more forgiving and suitable for players with handicaps ranging from six to 18.

According to Matt Bovee, TaylorMade’s Director of Product Creation, Iron and Wedge, “P·UDI is a great addition for players already using P·Series products, and P·DHY offers forgiving performance for players of all skill levels in this category as they seek optimal performance.”

Both the P·UDI and P·DHY feature advanced construction techniques, sound stabilization bars, and strategic weight distribution for maximum forgiveness and premium feel.

The internal structure of the UDI (left) and DHY (right) show where the center of gravity and weight placement differs in each model

Distinguishing between P·UDI and P·DHY starts with their center of gravity positions. The P·UDI has a mid CG for a penetrating mid-to-low ball flight, while the P·DHY has a lower CG for easier mid-to-high ball flight. Both irons offer lower trajectories compared to hybrids or high lofted fairway woods.

Testing indicates that the P·UDI is more forgiving than the P·790, and the P·DHY is the most forgiving iron in the TaylorMade family, making it an ideal long iron replacement for players struggling with higher lofted clubs.

P·UDI

The P·UDI design draws inspiration from Tour players to create a traditional iron shape that instills confidence and ease of play.

Featuring a moderate sole width and a compact head size compared to the P·790, the P·UDI offers a more forgiving option for long irons within the P·Series lineup.

With a traditional iron shape, raised face height, and compact design, the P·UDI offers forgiveness with slimmer toplines and less offset to boost player confidence. Its blade length is shorter than the P·DHY by approximately five millimeters.

Available loft options: 2 (17°), 3 (20°), 4 (22°)

P·DHY

The P·DHY emphasizes center of gravity through shaping, featuring a taller toe height, visible backbar, and a lower face profile to lower the CG for easier launch.

Designed for easy launch, increased forgiveness, and consistency, the P·DHY incorporates internal weighting, forged hollow body construction, high-speed face, SpeedFoam Air, Thru Slot Speed Pocket, and up to 26g of tungsten mass.

Available loft options: 2 (18°), 3 (20°), 4 (22°)

Pricing & Availability

The P·UDI and P·DHY are now available at retail for £229.

Both irons come in right-hand and left-hand options with UST Mamiya’s Recoil DART shaft and Golf Pride’s Z-Grip, with customization available for additional shaft and grip options.
