New York Giants Suffer Blow as Key Defensive Player Placed on Injured Reserve

The New York Giants have done well to get back into the NFC East race and are coming off a road victory against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

It was a gutsy win by the Giants, who were shorthanded on offense as they were missing star rookie receiver Malik Nabers as well as starting running back Devin Singletary.

Head coach Brian Daboll has done an excellent job managing the team and putting players in position to succeed and now will be tasked with doing it again in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Bengals are sitting at 1-4 and are in desperate need of a win, so the Giants must match that sense of urgency.

Cincinnati’s offense could be the difference in the matchup if quarterback Joe Burrow is firing on all cylinders with his talented receivers led by Ja’Marr Chase.

Getting after Burrow in the pocket will be key to slowing down the Bengals, but unfortunately, the Giants’ pass rush took a hit when they announced Kayvon Thibodeaux is being placed on injured reserve due to a wrist injury.

“He will miss at least the next four games. Thibodeaux underwent wrist surgery earlier this week and could miss as much as 4-6 weeks to recover,” Doug Rush of FanSided wrote on X.

Though Thibodeaux is likely to return later in the season, his loss puts the defensive line in a tough spot until then.

Thibodeaux was having a strong season with 2.0 sacks and 12 total tackles, and now New York has to try to replace that production.
