With the disappointing 2023 NFL season behind them, the New York Jets will try to right the ship this year, with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning to the field and seemingly ready to get back to work under center in Week 1 when the team hits the road to face the San Francisco 49ers to start the 2024 campaign.

As the Jets try to get back on track and become a legitimate title contender in the AFC, as they hoped to do last season with Rodgers’s arrival, the last thing the team needs is off-the-field distractions, which tend to get blown out of proportion in New York.

Unfortunately for New York, distractions have already started, with Rodgers’s unexcused absence for all of the mandatory minicamp, which has caused quite a stir and may come back to haunt the one-time Super Bowl champion.

Along with Rodgers becoming a hot topic of discussion for all the wrong reasons, the Jets got some more bad news this week, with cornerback Tae Hayes getting arrested on Sunday for marijuana possession, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Hayes isn’t a significant piece to the defensive unit like rising star cornerback Saucer Gardner or defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, but it is another thing the team has to deal with as they prepare for what will be a crucial 2024 NFL season, where a bad season could result to some drastic changes in New York.

Only time will tell how things will pan out for the Jets moving forward as the team tries to limit distractions while trying to steer the focus to the upcoming season and winning football games.
