Newcastle United and Aston Villa are vying to secure the signing of Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen.

Having just moved to Madrid from Bournemouth, Huijsen is considered an integral part of their plans. As such, the Spanish club is not open to transferring him and will not negotiate with the English clubs. It remains to be seen if Newcastle or Aston Villa will pursue other avenues.

Interest from Newcastle and Villa in Huijsen

Both teams are in search of a robust central defender and have reportedly prepared a €40 million (£34.5 million) proposal for the young Spaniard, according to sources. However, since the 20-year-old is vital to Real Madrid’s strategy, it is unsurprising that the club is resistant to allowing him to leave.

Aston Villa aims for a Champions League spot this season, which could make them an appealing choice for players if they finish among the top four. Nevertheless, Huijsen is less likely to make the switch from Real Madrid to Villa, prompting them to explore alternative defensive options.

Meanwhile, Newcastle is striving to build a competitive squad and needs quality long-term replacements for players like Dan Burn and Fabian Schar. Although Huijsen would have fit perfectly into their plans, a transfer seems improbable.
