Newcastle United is facing a significant setback as defender Tino Livramento is set to spend approximately six to eight weeks sidelined due to a serious hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old exited the pitch just before the 60-minute mark in the FA Cup third-round match against Bournemouth on Saturday, where Newcastle secured a thrilling win.
Livramento had been performing well until he experienced discomfort after a sprint down the right side and was quickly replaced by teammate Lewis Hall.
Losing Livramento for Two Months
The Daily Mail has reported that subsequent scans have indicated a more severe injury than initially thought, escalating concerns regarding his recovery.
This injury comes at a challenging time for Newcastle, who are already managing a tight schedule and a series of player injuries.
With experienced defenders Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar also dealing with ailments, Livramento has become an integral part of manager Eddie Howe’s defensive lineup, contributing significantly on both flanks.
The club’s medical team is hopeful for his return in early March but will exercise caution to prevent any possibility of re-injury.
