Transfer Caution for Newcastle United Regarding Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle United has been advised against making a significant investment in the potential transfer of Chelsea’s struggling forward, Nicolas Jackson, this summer.
The Senegalese player is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, where he has yet to leave a positive mark. His inconsistent performances at Chelsea have also brought his future into question.
With Bayern Munich unlikely to secure a permanent deal for the 24-year-old, speculation is mounting about possible destinations for him this summer. Newcastle is among the clubs reportedly interested in Jackson, but many fans might be preoccupied with attempts to secure tickets for the upcoming Champions League clash against Barcelona.
The transfer window is always active, and Newcastle will be exploring options for new signings, including perhaps Jackson to bolster their forward line. However, football analyst Mick Brown has advised against a move for Jackson, citing multiple concerns.
Brown expressed in an interview with Football Insider that Newcastle should think twice about pursuing Jackson, primarily due to the costs involved and his questionable attitude. “He is not consistent enough in front of goal, which is something Newcastle needs right now. That has been a significant issue for them this season,” he remarked. “I don’t see him as the solution to their current problems.”
Brown also added, “There have been ongoing questions about his attitude since his time at Chelsea, which could explain why the club decided to part ways with him. Also, what fee would Chelsea demand? Last summer, it was around £70 to £80 million, so it could be a similar figure now.”
In search of a new striker, Brown believes Jackson might not be the ideal target for Newcastle due to the expected high price tag and his lack of effectiveness. The Magpies had previously signed Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa after transferring Alexander Isak to Liverpool, but they will likely seek further reinforcements in attack this summer.
While Woltemade began brightly, his form has waned, and Wissa arrived at the club with an injury, failing to deliver the expected results. Given Jackson’s challenges at Chelsea and Bayern, Newcastle could potentially aim for higher-caliber options in the transfer market.
