Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe considering Manchester United job – Latest on Man United’s News and Transfers

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe "tempted" by Manchester United job - Man United News And Transfer News

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is supposedly open to the idea of taking over the reins at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag bought himself some breathing space after overseeing United’s spirited 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday.

The Red Devils headed into the break trailing by a goal, but they came back fighting in the second half to grab all three points, courtesy of goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the win has not stopped United from being linked with Ten Hag’s potential successors.

Howe’s name has consistently popped up in these suggestions despite the Englishman insisting he is not considering leaving the Magpies, who have also had a torrid start to the new campaign.

According to a Football Insider report, former United chief scout and assistant manager Mick Brown has revealed that Howe is tempted by the idea of managing the Premier League’s most successful club.

“I’ve heard he’d be tempted by the opportunity,” Brown told Football Insider, who claim that he remains “very well-connected” at Old Trafford.

“There are major problems which need overhauling, but it’s a great place to be and it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Howe, I believe, would back himself to sort out some of those problems, and that would get the crowd on his side.”

Brown further added that Howe’s name is on the list of United owners.

INEOS have been exploring the market for Ten Hag’s potential replacement since the summer.

Thomas Tuchel was seen as the top candidate to become the club’s next manager, but the German has been named England’s new manager, leaving United with even fewer alternatives should they decide to pull the trigger on Ten Hag.

VfB Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeness has also reportedly attracted INEOS’s interest and is understood to be willing to speak to United at the end of the season.
