Incoming 2024 NFL Draft prospect T’Vondre Sweat, considered one of the top defensive tackles for the incoming rookie class, was arrested Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas.
Per jail records obtained by KXAN NBC Austin, the former Texas Longhorns defender was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI). He was booked into Travis County Jail.
Details Emerge on T’Vondre Sweat Arrest
Sweat, 22, was arrested by Austin Police at 3:12 p.m. ET.
DWI is a Class B misdemeanor according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The first offense can lead to a $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail upon conviction, with three mandatory days. Loss of a driver’s license is another first-offense penalty.
Sweat’s bond was set at $3,000. He was seen exiting the jail alongside his attorney at approximately 5:10 p.m. ET in a video captured by KXAN Sports Reporter Noah Gross.

The former Longhorns defender, a native of Huntsville, Texas, played five collegiate seasons on the Austin campus.
Sweat played in 51 total college football games. He has garnered heavy NFL interest for his collegiate play and towering frame.
Sweat Recently Visited AFC North Franchise
The 6’4″, 366-pounder will be coveted by NFL teams seeking interior defensive line help.
On April 3, Sweat revealed on his personal Instagram page that he was visiting Cincinnati — indicating a visit with the Bengals. Defensive tackle is considered a need for the AFC North franchise.
The Bengals aren’t the only team who have met with Sweat. Per Dallas Cowboys reporter Nick Harris, Sweat had a formal meeting with the franchise during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in March. The Cowboys also had numerous representatives attend the Texas Pro Day on March 20.
Sweat ended his final CFB season by collecting eight tackles for a loss — a career-best. He also delivered career-highs in total tackles with 45, solo stops at 18, and tied his previous best of pass deflections with four.
He went on to claim the Outland Trophy, which honors the nation’s best interior lineman in college football. Sweat additionally earned unanimous All-American accolades and received the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honor.
PFN listed Sweat as the No. 7 best interior defensive tackle ahead of the ’24 draft. PFN’s Ian Cummings labeled Sweat one of the top nose tackle options in this class.

“Sweat is a force of absolute absorption in the run game, with the size and strength to swallow up double-teams and combo blocks. But for his size, he has impressive juice as a pass rusher, and his unyielding playmaking motor stands out,” Cummings wrote.
Sweat was given a second-round grade for the upcoming draft. PFN’s Joe Broback projected the Longhorn to stay in-state and land at No. 42 overall to the Houston Texans in his Saturday mock.
