NFL World Reacts to Jerry Jones Keeping Mike McCarthy in Dallas

It’s been a rough week, to say the least, for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. What was looked at as their best chance in years to make a real run at a Super Bowl title, quickly turned into more of the same as the Cowboys were dismantled by a young and talented Green Bay Packers team.

The outing was so bad it made Cowboys fans everywhere question everything regarding the team. That included and was mainly surrounding head coach Mike McCarthy and his worthiness when it comes to him still being the leader of their team. While many are ready to move on from McCarthy in favor of something new, Jerry Jones does not agree.

NFL World Reacts to Jerry Jones Retaining Mike McCarthy

Dallas has gone 36-15 in the last three years under McCarthy. Despite that, it’s all about playoff success that defines you, and the Cowboys have not lived up to that standard thus far.

Cowboys fans and the NFL world alike believe it’s time for a change and think they should move on from McCarthy. Mr. Jones, however, doesn’t agree and has officially decided that McCarthy will be back for his fifth season as Dallas’ head coach.

That decision has not sat well with those within the media, nor the fans of the team who are looking for something more than what they’ve become accustomed to.

Manager and editor of Blogging The Boys, RJ Ochoa, believes this move is only setting McCarthy and the team up for failure.

“Doing this in general feels so underwhelming. And not that an extension is a good idea, but forcing him to go at what will be a volatile season in a contract year will more than likely not end well.”

While those in the fan base seem less enthused by the move, those around other teams seem to be rejoicing when it comes to McCarthy being retained.

Cowboys Players Back Their Coach

Despite the outside noise and perceived value regarding McCarthy and his tenure in Dallas, one thing is clear — the players are rallying around him. Even if McCarthy has lost the fan base, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the players.

Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson upon seeing the news opted to take to social media to post a video of McCarthy dancing, set to the music of 50 Cent’s “Many Men.”

It was a clear message that this is a move that he’s on board with. And he wasn’t the only one.

Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas chose to share the same clip as Ferguson but added his own take on it as well saying, “Just like we said today… Lets run dis shi back…”

It’s clear that there is a divide between the fan base and players, and ultimately, it may not matter.

The Cowboys are either going to elevate their game for McCarthy, or things will be the same, if not worse this time next year.
