The San Francisco 49ers are in a tough spot right now.

Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade, and it doesn’t seem like his situation with the organization is going to get better any time soon.

Nonetheless, as much as Aiyuk is disgruntled with the team, sports analyst Nick Wright doesn’t think they can afford to let him go.

Talking on First Things First, Wright explained that the Niners know that Brock Purdy needs all the best weapons out there to be in a position to win.

He stated that, with the Niners about to pay Brock Purdy a lot of money with his next extension, they should definitely consider trading Aiyuk to clear their books and recoup as much draft capital as possible.

Nonetheless, they know that would only happen at the expense of their Super Bowl aspirations, which is why they simply cannot afford to do so.

Wright stated that teams like the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills could afford to trade their best wide receivers and still stay competitive because of their quarterbacks, but that isn’t the case with the Niners.

Clearly, Wright isn’t much of a Brock Purdy fan, even though he was arguably their best offensive player in the playoffs last season.

Aiyuk has been a big headache for the organization for months now, and it seems like he’s willing to make this situation even more uncomfortable if he doesn’t get his way.
