Nick Wright Says AFC Contender Has No Shot Of Reaching Playoffs

After a few years of being considered a legitimate Super Bowl contender, the Buffalo Bills are going through a rough season in 2023.

They’re just 6-6 this year, and they suffered a heartbreaking, down-to-the-wire loss in overtime to the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in overtime on Sunday.

Some have been wondering for a while if they will even make the playoffs this winter, and after they have lost four of their last six games, Nick Wright said on his podcast “What’s Wright?” that they will not reach the postseason.

Wright pointed out that head coach Sean McDermott hasn’t won a single overtime game and neither has quarterback Josh Allen as a starter.

Buffalo is in an odd situation, as they seem to have a championship-caliber core in Allen, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and studs on defense such as linebacker Matt Milano and defensive end Leonard Floyd.

But their defense has been banged up, and Allen has been more turnover-prone than he has been in the past.

While he’s leading the NFL with 24 touchdown passes, he’s also first with 13 interceptions.

Wright also questioned the Bills’ decision to take a knee with 20 seconds left in regulation and the score tied instead of taking a couple of shots downfield and looking to get into field-goal range to win the game right then and there.

While the Bills scored the first points of overtime on a field goal, they allowed Philly to march downfield afterward and get a game-winning rushing touchdown from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Buffalo’s remaining schedule is difficult and includes games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins, which casts even more doubt on their playoff chances.
