Nippon Shaft dominates with dual victories on the Tour – Golf News

Nippon Shaft enjoys double winning weekend on Tour - Golf News

Japanese shaft manufacturer Nippon Shaft enjoyed a double winning weekend after the US Women’s Open champion and the winner of the DP World Tour’s Porsche European Open both had irons that were fitted with the company’s products.

England’s Laurie Canter secured his first ever title on the DP World Tour when shooting rounds of 68, 66, 73 and 72 at Green Eagle Golf Course in Germany to finish on -13.

Canter, 34, switched into a new set of irons only the week before the tournament, using a set of Ping’s Blueprint Forged S irons with a set of  N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X steel shafts to improve his improve his approach play and wound up leading the tournament in greens-in-regulation.

“Nippon Shaft is pleased that the winner of this year’s European Open found immediate results after switching to Nippon Shaft products,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “He demonstrated just how important the greens-in-regulation statistic is when it comes to winning golf tournaments. The consistency of Nippon Shaft products enable golfers to be confident in the distances their irons will fly.”

Over in America, Japan’s Yuka Saso captured her second US Women’s Open title in the space of just four years when finishing three shots clear of the pack at Lancaster Golf Club in Pennsylvania.

Saso used MODUS³ Tour Prototype steel shafts in her Callaway CB and MB  irons and N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 105 steel shafts in her Callaway Jaws wedges.

The 22-year-old was three shots behind to start the final round but made four birdies on the back nine to finish on -4 and beat fellow Japanese player Hinako Shibuno by three shots. They were the only players to finish under par in a week of tough scoring conditions.

Fukuda commented: “Nippon Shaft is extremely pleased that this year’s US Women’s Open champion trusted Nippon Shaft products to enable her to perform at the highest level. We are looking forward to watching and supporting her as she continues to progress in her career.”

More than 500 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, DP Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO and MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com.
