NIPPON SHAFT PLAYERS WIN IN SWITZERLAND & JAPAN - Golf News

A 34-year-old Englishman used Nippon Shaft steel shafts in his irons and wedges to win a sudden death playoff on the DP World Tour’s Omega European Masters over the weekend.

The Champion used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO MODUS³ TOUR 120x steel shafts in his irons and wedges to shoot 11-under par 269 with rounds of 64-62-73-70 at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans Montana, Switzerland. He made an 8-foot putt for birdie on the first playoff hole to secure the victory, which paid €496,979 ($551,000). It was his fifth win on the European circuit and put him 22nd in the Race to Dubai standings.

In Japan, last week’s Champion made it two in a row by winning the Shinhan Donghae Open in Incheon, South Korea. The 23-year-old used N.S. PRO MODUS³ Prototype steel shafts in his irons to shoot 22-under par 266 with rounds of 71-67-62-66 at the Ocean Course at Club72. He was the fourth Japanese player to win the 40-year-old tournament, which is tri-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour, the Asian Tour and the Korean PGA Tour.
