Novak Djokovic Pulls Out of 2024 Madrid Open

Novak Djokovic will not be playing at the 2024 Madrid Open as he withdrew from the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

The Serbian’s 2024 season has been unlike any of his previous seasons, as he will be without a trophy at least until May 19th, marking his second longest time without a trophy at the start of the season. Djokovic won’t be competing in the Madrid Open, which takes place between April 24th and May 5th, 2024.

The 24-time major winner hasn’t provided a reason for his withdrawal, but it is speculated that he wants to focus on preparing for the Roland Garros and preserve his body after struggling physically in his most recent outing in Monte Carlo.

With Djokovic absent, Jannik Sinner will be the top seed at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in his career. Djokovic’s focus will now be on the Italian Open in Rome, starting on May 8th.

If Djokovic also withdraws from the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, he will enter the French Open, where he is the defending champion, without playing on clay for over two months. Djokovic is yet to provide a comment on his withdrawal.
