Novak Djokovic remains determined to pursue his record at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic has brushed aside any suggestion of retirement and aims to be back for next year’s Wimbledon.

The 37-year-old seven-time champion was comprehensively defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles final on Sunday, a loss described as a changing of the guard in the sport.

The Serb, without a title in 2024, admitted he is behind Alcaraz, 21, and world No.1 Jannik Sinner, 22, this year, insisting “I am not at that level”.

But the winner of a record 24 Grand Slams is aiming for his first Olympic gold medal at the upcoming Paris Games and returning to the All England Club tournament for 2025.

Djokovic, who underwent knee surgery a month before this year’s Wimbledon, said: “Hopefully I can find the right tennis because I’m going to need all I have and more to go to the final of the Olympic Games.

“As far as coming back to Wimbledon, I would love to. I don’t have anything else in my thoughts right now that this (year) is my last Wimbledon.

“I don’t have any limitations. I still want to keep going and play as long as I feel like I can play on this high level.”
